Walking and Hiking Safaris

Walking safaris are the most natural way to see this pristine wilderness of Africa. You can have a strenuous or as relaxing walk/hike depending on your pace and the time. Most walking safaris and Hikes are offered at the lodge/camp you will be staying at during your safari. However, you can have an entire walking safari with only a vehicle to help with ground logistics.

Walking can allow you to get close to wildlife and Nature. You get to experience the wilderness from a more natural intimate level. There are natures walk and tracking walks which are more fascinating. Most of these walks are guided by a local guide like a Maasai or a Samburu. You also get to walk with some specialized guides like bird watching guides or gorilla tracking guides.

Bird watching Safaris

Bird watching viewing excursions or trips can range from a day to several weeks to some of our best bird viewing hotspots in East Africa, including sites less visited such as Kakamega Forest and Arabuko Sokoke alongside the most renowned spots such as Lake Nakuru National Park with its hundreds of thousands of pink flamingos plus over 450 other bird species. Kenya is known for over 1500 species of birds.

Uganda is also a birdwatcher destination with numerous lakes and rivers which are great destination for bird watching. The best Bird watching parks in Uganda are Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, Ssese islands among others.

Tanzania has over 1000 different species of birds with Lake Manyara and Selous taking the lead. There are other areas like Arusha National Park, Serengeti National Park, Usambara Mountains, Kiduchi forest among others.

Mt Kenya is considered more scenic than Mt Kilimanjaro but Kilimanjaro is the higher of the two mountains. Kilimanjaro is the world’s tallest free standing mountain at 5895m while Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain at 5199, and the highest of all the Kenya Mountains. Mount Kenya’s main summits are Nelion and Batian. Mt. Kenya offers a vastly diverse range of habitats and flora and fauna to observe whilst climbing. Most of the climbers however summit only the third highest peak, point Lenana. Mount Kenya is best climbed during the dry seasons of January – February, and August – September.
