Climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania or Mt. Kenya in Kenya and enjoy the dramatic and scenically beautiful landscape. Mt Kenya is considered more scenic than Mt Kilimanjaro but Kilimanjaro is the higher of the two mountains. Kilimanjaro is the world’s tallest free standing mountain at 5895m while Mount Kenya is Africa’s second highest mountain at 5199, and the highest of all the Kenya Mountains. Mount Kenya’s main summits are Nelion and Batian. Mt. Kenya offers a vastly diverse range of habitats and flora and fauna to observe whilst climbing. Most of the climbers however summit only the third highest peak, point Lenana. Mount Kenya is best climbed during the dry seasons of January – February, and August – September.
There 6 routes on Mt Kilimanjaro; Shira Route, Machame route, Marangu the most popular route, Rongai route a more remote and far less frequented , Lemosho route and Umbwe route which is considered the hardest and require endurance. Mt Kenya ha 7 climbing routes of which 3 are best known and more frequently used. They are Naromoru Route which is the fastest route to the summit, Chogoria Route the most scenic and interesting and the longest to reach the summit, Sirimon Route is the most popular route. Others include Burguret Route, Timau Route, Meru Route and Kamweti Route..
